About Kansas Wings
EIN: 88-4367940

Kansas Wings is a **pending** 501(c)3 providing one on one mentorship for released inmates to reduce the recidivism rate. The mentoring will model appropriate behaviors and relationships for effective and successful reentry into the community. Kansas Wings will recruit and support mentors that will provide the following:
-
A bedroom in their home for 12 months
-
A safety plan
-
A stable environment which provides structure, guidance, and mentorship
Kansas Wings is a secular organization that is accepting of individual religion, but does not operate with religion in its mission, vision, or operations.
Why It Matters
3851
In fiscal year 2022, Kansas Department of Corrections will release 3851 adult offenders from Kansas facilities.
1284
Approximately 1/3 of those parolees will return to custody within 3 years of their release.
$31,286
Average annual cost per inmate. The economic cost to taxpayers is further multiplied by probation violators being re-arrested and using expensive "bed space."
$100
Inmates are given $100 to begin their new life following release.
Factors contributing to recidivism include a person’s social environment and community, their circumstances before incarceration, events during their incarceration, and, one of the main reasons, difficulty adjusting back into normal life.
